Petroleum Engineer and Director of A&D
Shawn Nix is consulting petroleum engineer and director of A&D at Pinnacle Energy Services, LLC, in Oklahoma City. He specializes in reserve and economic evaluations, A&D support, production optimization, drilling inventory development, and regulatory compliance across unconventional plays and CO₂ flood assets.
Since joining Pinnacle in 2023, Shawn has delivered reserve estimates for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting; led technical initiatives including an OERB wellsite restoration project; supported asset marketing and divestitures; and secured permits for commercial saltwater disposal wells through the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
From 2020 to 2023, Shawn operated as an independent engineering consultant, advising operators, mineral owners, and financial institutions. His work included technical and economic diligence, reserve evaluations, production optimization, workovers, acquisitions, and mineral and royalty transaction reviews.
Previously, Shawn served as Engineering Manager for the Mid-Continent at Meagher Energy Advisors (2018–2020), where he supported multiple transactions through reservoir evaluations and development of technical marketing materials. He also spent over six years at Chaparral Energy, advancing from Senior Reservoir Engineer to Corporate Reserves Manager. At Chaparral, he managed reservoir engineering and reserves for large-scale CO₂ flood operations—including the Burbank Unit—led multidisciplinary teams, supported corporate divestitures, and testified in OCC unitization hearings.
Earlier in his career, Shawn held engineering roles with RAM Energy Resources, Newfield Exploration, and Vintage Petroleum, gaining experience in drilling and completion operations, facilities design, reservoir analysis, and A&D support.
Shawn earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Petroleum Engineering and Management Information Systems from the University of Tulsa.
